Coral Triangle Expedition Cruise with Swan Hellenic

This voyage aboard SH Minerva explored some of the most remote and biologically rich parts of Indonesia and West Papua. Travelling through Raja Ampat, Cenderawasih Bay, Waigeo, Pulau Ayu and remote stretches of coastline, the journey combined expedition cruising, diving, zodiac exploration and wildlife encounters into one continuous expedition arc.

Rather than functioning like a traditional cruise, the experience felt shaped by movement, discovery and daily expedition rhythm. Some days focused on remote landings and village visits. Others revolved around diving, whale sharks or navigating isolated island groups that are difficult to access independently.

SH Minerva balanced expedition capability with a calm onboard atmosphere. Zodiac operations, expedition briefings and daily landings shaped the rhythm of the voyage, while the ship itself remained comfortable and understated throughout the journey.

The experience felt less like conventional cruising and more like travelling aboard a moving expedition base. Days unfolded around conditions, wildlife, landings and exploration opportunities rather than rigid cruise structure.

Some of the most memorable moments came ashore. Remote village visits, isolated island landings and coastal encounters added an important human layer to the expedition and helped place the landscapes into context.

Arriving by zodiac created a sense of scale and remoteness that is difficult to replicate through traditional travel. These quieter moments often became some of the most meaningful parts of the voyage.
